Invincible isn’t a word we hear every day, but when going into battle, don’t we all want someone invincible on our side? Merriam Webster: invincible = incapable of being defeated, overcome, or subdued. Yep, that’s the one I want fighting on my side.
Maybe it’s a battle with cancer, a custody battle. Perhaps every day on the job is another battle with a supervisor. And then there’s the battles that go on within us, like rejection, esteem issues, substance abuse, any number of addictions. Whether it’s a battle you can see, or one raging on the inside, often times we need a champion.
That might be a top-notch oncologist or a highly rated lawyer, or maybe it’s that tried and true friend who has proven to be strong and mighty for you over and over again. I believe the Lord hurts and strains when we do, and when we cry out, He is there providing the help, the champion we need. God is the invincible one, the one who comes alongside and wraps His armor of invincibility, strength, and courage around us and those who journey with us.

Lately as a diversion, Tom and I started watching “Friends” occasionally. (Please don’t judge.) And there’s something about the theme song that really resonates with me. It almost sounds like a conversation between God and me. I don’t know about you, but there’s a sprinkling of invincibility in hearing Him whisper, “I’ll be there for you.” What do you think?
