Have you had to fight a battle lately, Dear Reader, large or small? I think we’ve all been caught up in some kind of battle at one time or another, perhaps even now. Hopefully, when faced with antagonists, something beyond yourself began to well up inside of you. The commonality of battle, and the need for someone or something to lean on has begun to take hold of my heart.
Before the ink had (metaphorically) dried on the pages of Running Toward the Danger, a new journey was niggling in my brain. Truthfully, Dear Reader, I was really confused.
I’ve learned the best way to undertake a journey of any kind, is to pray about it. I really thought I was supposed to take a break from writing in 2026, but the niggling continued. I kept trying to ignore it, at least until Running Toward the Danger launched.
But the niggling deep within me only got louder. Finally, I tiptoed onto the path that seemed to be emerging. With each tentative step, the path seemed to widen a little more. A faint plan began to connect jotted notes on post-its and corners of journal entries.
As a self-published writer, I’ve learned that not having a concrete deadline from a traditional publisher can be good and bad news. While I appreciate the freedom of publishing on my own terms, I’ve also learned I do better with an ETA for the project in mind.
The new journey has already shown that it will require more research than previous books. It will demand the use of both sides of my brain, spiritual and scholar. As a former social studies educator, history has long been a magnet to draw my interest while amazing me with the complexity of intertwining events. Warrior Heart’s journey is taking me into research areas not previously pursued as a professional writer.

Are you still with me, Dear Reader? Well, here’s the deal. Once I share the working title and theme of a new manuscript, I’m committed. That’s kinda scary. But when some of you chose to join me on “Danger’s Journey,” you gave me the accountability boost I needed. So . . . here goes!
The working title of the new book is Experiencing the Warrior Heart of God (Letters from the Battlefield). Its theme is: God empowers us with warrior hearts for the battles we are called to fight.
I firmly believe there is an overlapping theme between Scriptural and United States history. Seeking feasible connections between the two maybe a challenge. Your prayers for insights that will resonate with readers like you are appreciated.
What do you think, Dear Reader? I hope you will choose to join me on Warrior Heart’s journey (the fourth Thursday of each month). This journey will also include “Thursday Teasers” (the second Thursday of the month) with Scriptures and short reflections from the manuscript. Here’s the Thursday Teaser from earlier this month:

Let’s go, Dear Reader. Come go with me and like the young shepherd, David, and run toward the battle (the challenges in our lives)!
When the Philistine stood up and approached, David ran toward the line of battle to meet him.
