Love That’s more than Hearts, candy, or flowers

Dear Reader, what’s your favorite Valentine’s Day token to give or receive? In my cedar chest I have several empty heart shaped candy boxes from Daddy. It wasn’t the candy that mattered. Daddy was on the road much of the time, and knowing he still loved and cared about me no matter where he was, meant so much more than the little boxes could hold.

This verse from John’s gospel is one of my absolute favorites: “…he loved them to the very end.” Let’s be honest. As we explore the Gospel accounts of Jesus’s earthly ministry, it’s easy to see His followers were far from perfect. Nobody was walking around with a polished halo hanging over his head . . . kinda like us.

BUT, “He had always loved those in the the world who were his own . . ” That’s us, Dear Readers! No matter what, no matter where we are, Jesus will always love us, and to the very end of this journey. How much sweeter that sacred homecoming will be to have full confidence that He loved us first, best, and forever as we fall into His waiting arms.
