BBP Newsletter: September 2024

What’s happening, what’s coming soon, & how to be a part of the blessings

Being a part of Buddy Bag Project, Inc. is quite a learning experience! One thing I’ve learned is that service has LOTS of faces and places. Whether it’s working in the kitchen at the City Union Mission Family Center, helping guests at the annual Betty Bag Giveaway, showing up for Lead Team meetings, or working at a packing event, both givers and receivers are blessed.

There’s also plenty of service going on behind the scenes, sometimes big, other times, not so much. Like rolling socks for men’s personal care bags, or rolling yarn for the some of the hundreds of scarves that will be crocheted and given to unhoused men, women, and children this winter. It all matters!

Buddy Bag Partners are creative and generous, offering many other ways of service to some of the unhoused of KC, as they quietly follow St. Paul’s encouragement, “Let all that you do be done in love.”

REASON FOR REQUEST: 40 hats and 85 pairs of gloves are still needed for cold weather care bags to be packed at Gathering to Give (10/13) for the City Union Mission Men’s Shelter. Purchase soon to guarantee delivery by October 1, in time for all items to be detagged in time for Gathering to Give.

Gathering to Give will also be a COLLECTION DAY for kids’s winter gear items, hats and/or gloves.
