One of the hardest lessons to teach my students, of any age, was cause and effect. The writer of Proverbs offers a cause and effect chain of events: wisdom . . . patience . . . overlook offense . . . glory(or honor). Yielding to reason over emotion is one lesson I continually have to work on.
