When I read or hear about lives lost to violence, or lives and property lost to natural disasters, it’s hard for me to wrap my head around such devastation. Then I am amazed at the courage of first responders, and the resolve and compassion of those affected. Ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances demonstrating the best in humanity.
