Is spring firmly settled in where you are, Dear Reader? In the Kansas City area, like many others, we’ve have a few starts and stops this year. The good news is that the cold snaps get shorter. For those of us who remember snowfall the second week of May in 2005, perhaps we hold onto our winter mentality a little longer.
Everything that happens in this world happens at the time God chooses.

One thing that makes Buddy Bag Project personal care bags special is the hand-crocheted scarves we are able to include. A small cadre of partners crochet 250-300 scarves each year for the homeless in Kansas City. One of our crafters attaches a wooden button with a heart burned into it. Another one crochets and attaches a small red heart to the scarves she creates. Our makers pray over each scarf for its recipient. Just a little heart.

Several weeks after the Sunday Bag fellowship when Buddy Bag Project shared winter gear at the Family Center, a guest named, Chris, asked if I was the one who crocheted the scarves. I gladly told her about our crafters, and how they pray over each scarve. Then Chris insisted that I passed the word along to them that the little hearts make all the difference.
Dear Reader, this is a two-prong reminder to myself, and anyone else who may need it. Our unimaginably huge God can work through the small things and small people (kids) to make a difference in the lives of others; all it takes is a little heart.
A very special thank you to Rosie, Elaine, Jenn, & Sarah for generously sharing your time, talents, & resources with Kansas City’s homeless!
