Once upon a time, a couple named Alice and Tom donated regularly to City Union Mission in Kansas City. In June, 2021, Alice and Tom were contacted about learning more about the mission. They became so inspired they recruited five women from their fellowship group to pack and donate fifty cold weather care bags to the Men’s Shelter. But they didn’t . . .
Instead, the team packed and delivered 135 bags, which became known as Buddy Bags.
In two short years, over a thousand bags have been packed and donated, the Buddy Bag Project received an achievement award from City Union Mission, the team of “partners” has grown to about 50, and it has become a 501c3 charitable organization.
In recent months, Buddy Bag Project, Inc. has applied and received grants and donation requests to help meet the growing need in serving the homeless of Kansas City.
